Author Interview:
D.A. Latham
What is the title of your book?
I have 8 books out currently. My latest one is
called The Debt.
Please tell us a little bit about your book.
It’s both an erotic romance and also a cautionary
tale about the effects of consumer debt, how it influences your decisions and
restricts your choices.
How did you come up with your book idea?
It was very loosely based on a few people I knew.
Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
In The Debt, the message is to avoid debt, as I
firmly believe its a trap. The message in ‘A Very Corporate Affair’, my series,
was that hard work and integrity will always triumph.
If your book became a movie, what would your ideal
cast be?
Fantasy casting is available on my Pinterest page! I
often use Henry Cavill as a muse, although David Gandy and Paul Walker have
also featured.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m currently working on my next novel called Fixer. I originally wrote it as a Henry Cavill fan fiction, but I’m now
adding sub-plots and turning it into a novel.
What is your day job?
I used to own Hair and Beauty salons in London, and
was a hairdresser by trade. After A Very Corporate Affair went bestseller, I
sold up and now write full time.
What is your preferred genre to write?
All bar one of my books come into the erotic romance
genre. I have one hard-core erotica novella called The Whore of Babylon Cay.
How did you become a writer?
Writing a book was on my bucket list, as I’m sure it
is for a lot of people. I decided to give it a try and wrote The Beauty and the
Blonde. Enough people liked it and encouraged me to carry on that I embarked on
the Corporate Affair Series.
Are you a planner, complete with detailed outlines,
or do you fly by the seat of your pants when writing?
Somewhere in the middle. I always do a rough outline
in order to figure out where to put the main scene and to keep my continuity
with the characters. I wouldn’t call it detailed though. Its more a rough
sketch on a bit of A4.
What is the best writing advice that you have ever
been given?
Use an editor! I use an American editor who gently
removes the Britishisms which would be unfathomable to the rest of the world.
What advice would you give a new writer?
Find a good editor. I’d like to think I’m pretty
decent at spelling, grammar and punctuation, but its amazing just how many
typos a good editor can spot.
I no longer use beta readers after an unfortunate
experience, but good beta readers can help spot plot bunnies, which is useful
for a new writer.
What other projects do you have in the works at the
moment?
I have a long list! I’d like to do a non-fiction,
regarding salon success, using the knowledge I gained during my salon career. I
also have an unfinished work of my late father’s that I’d like to complete and
publish for him. He also wrote the most amazing poetry that I would like to
curate and share with the world.
I also write fan-fiction for fellow Henry Cavill
fans over on WattPad. The current one is called Henry’s Girls.
What surprises can we expect from you in the future?
It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you now would
it? ;)
If you could journey into any of your books,
interacting with the characters, which would it be and why?
I would love to meet Ivan from A Very Corporate
Affair because I fell a little bit in love with him as I wrote his story.
What are you reading?
Nothing at the moment. I try not to read
when I’m writing. The last book I read was Grey by E.L.James.
Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate, always chocolate…
What is your favorite drink?
Coffee, or as it’s
better known, writer’s juice.

Henry Cavill
